Terry Simpson Studios’ Vocational Coaching Programme is designed for the serious student wishing to build a career in professional dance, choreography, dance teaching and allied dance fields.

The Programme runs 5 days a week involving around 30 studio hours, and aims to increase, improve, and refine technique, strength, knowledge and presentation.

Students have access to all studio classes, as well as Private Coaching, helping to build not only stronger technicians and dancers, but also well rounded and intelligent artists.

Our expert faculty offers daily training and coaching in classical ballet, contemporary dance, pas de deux, pointe work, choreography, male technique, production, artistic coaching, repertoire & body conditioning/pilates.

The Programme is as much about technique and discipline as it is about body conditioning and wellbeing.

Programmes are tailored to suit the individual needs and aspirations of each student and are arranged on either a Full-time or Part-Time basis.

Arrangements have been made with selected Secondary Schools for students to  complete their academic studies,  in conjunction with attending this Programme.

There have been numerous examples of Terry Simpson Studios' students achieving superb ATAR Scores whilst completing this Programme.

Terry Simpson Studios’ graduates are known for their strong technique, musicality, coordination, dedication, versatility across many genre's, as well as, an  ability to easily follow instruction in open class.

Terry Simpson Studios’ holistic training has produced accomplished well rounded young people by drawing on each student’s strengths, whilst nurturing their weaknesses. It combines pre-professional experiences to prepare students for the exacting demands that they will experience in the industry

Students often end up specialising in either classical ballet or contemporary dance whilst maintaining a strong base in their minor discipline.

The focus of our program is always on the individual. Class numbers are kept small to meet the needs of each student and recognise and nurture individual talent and potential.

Regular opportunities to discuss and set long and short-term goals is an integral facet of the program.

Students are individually prepared for RAD exams including Solo Seal; professional school and company auditions; scholarships; and international competitions such as Genée International Ballet Competition (RAD).

Students are also provided with professional guidance and assistance with auditioning, CV preparation, DVD production and portfolio photos.

We pride ourselves in developing the artists of the future, by providing a clear career pathway through intensive training, as well as, preparing students for their next step be it into a Tertiary Programme, International ballet School or Professional Dance company.

First term issues for Full Timers?

"Many dancers new to full-time are enthusiastic and want to go to as many classes as they can but this can, and often does, lead to fatigue. Whilst at full-time they are staying at school and increasing their dance load, which also increases their physical and mental fatigue. Being able to manage their time both within and outside full-time and finding time to rest is very important which is why I spend time with my students timetabling their lives to ensure everything is manageable."
