Classical Ballet

Classical ballet is the corner-stone of Terry Simpson Studios' dance training

We teach the Royal Academy of Dance  syllabus for learning classwork and vocational examinations.

Junior School Ballet classes start with Recreation and Pre-Primary.

Primary and Grades One, Two, Three and Four - Students from Primary and upwards can participate in Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations. 

Pre-Primary - This class is designed for 5-6 year olds and is an introduction for very young students to ballet and examinations

Primary - For ages 6-7 years. The Primary Grade is where the real training begins with students developing the strength, posture and turnout required for future Grades and character dances.

Grade One, Two, Three, Four -  Students in these grades are now building on their technique and vocabulary of dance steps. The continuation of National Character in these grades is very much enjoyed by the students and gives them the opportunity to study styles from various countries.

Primary, Grade One, Two, Three & Four students wishing to undertake examinations will be required to attend all specified exam classes per week.

There is a holiday workshop for students from Pre-Primary and upwards in preparation for the examinations and attendance at these workshops are mandatory.

Junior Ballet classes are held throughout the week and on Saturdays and are at held at our Mitcham Studios.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Middle (Grade 5, 6, 7, 8) and Senior School (Intermediate Foundation and above)

These ballet classes include Grade 5, 6, 7 and 8 and Intermediate  Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2. Pointe work now begins and creative development is nurtured. 

Middle and Senior students undertaking examinations will be required to complete all classes in their respective levels. 

These grades and vocational examinations are for students who wish  to develop their strength, technique and artistry to the highest levels.

Classes are held throughout the week and on Saturdays at either Mitcham or our City Studios.


Vocational Graded classes

Conclude with with Solo Seal are designed for students wishing to fulfil a career in classical ballet.

Training is intensive and requires a high level of commitment. 


RAD Holiday Workshops

There is also a holiday workshop for students from Grade 5 and upwards in preparation for the examinations and attendance at these   is mandatory.

Holiday schools are held at other times with renowned guest teachers and attendance and these are recommended.


RAD Examination Entry pre-requisites

Students who are intending to participate in a Royal Academy of Dance examination, solo performance, award or class award must attend the required lessons per term and relevant holiday courses

Annual End of Year Performances
